1. Cold Compress
Ice packs are helpful in case of knee pain caused by an injury and arthritis. It helps reduce the pain, swelling, inflammation, and burning sensation.
Take three to four ice cubes and put them in a flannel cloth. After bundling it up, place it on the back of your knee, as well as around it, while your leg is elevated and supported by pillows.
Keep it for 15-20 minutes, and add more ice cubes if necessary. Do this 3-4 times daily until your swelling reduces significantly.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness in joints. Ginger acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and cayenne pepper as an analgesic. Here’s how to combine them to get a knee pain relief.
- Add half a tablespoon of cayenne pepper to a ¼ cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Mix well and add half a tablespoon of grated ginger root.
- Apply the resulting mixture on your affected knee and let it stay for 20 minutes. Then, just wash with water.
- Do this treatment twice a day, for 4-5 days until you notice an improvement.
The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric’s active compound curcumin help relieve joint inflammation. Also, turmeric contains antioxidants which speed up the process of healing of any injury.

Massage your aching knee with warm castor oil, using circular motions. It’s best to do this before going to bed, and let it act overnight.
Another option is to place a cotton cloth soaked in warm castor oil on the affected area and leave it overnight.

5. Mustard Oil
